About Guma

As a qigong teacher for 20+ years, I am fascinated by the moving flow of our personal and collective energy fields.  When I was a UDCMC Hospice Chaplain, I loved listening to how God moved through so many variations, each family requiring something different of me.  For 13 years I volunteered in the maximum-security yards of New and Old Folsom prison, teaching Qigong and leading worship sharing groups, where I am inspired by the deep spiritual connections to be found in harsh circumstances and between people of very different backgrounds.

One of the deepest ways I know God is through listening as a spiritual director (think one-on-one clearness committee) and following another’s journey inward and outward. Deep listening and finding the luminous connections have been predominate themes in my life, as an active member of Sacramento Friends Meeting and a practitioner of several styles of meditation I cultivate listening into the Holy silence.

It is always available to all of us, everywhere.

I have lead programs for numerous Church groups, facilitated weekends at Ben Lomand Quaker Center and Pendle Hillon “Walking cheerfully when answering to great suffering.”  I am always amazed how each new encounter pulls something new from within me and offers me a new viewpoint on the Holy.  I hope to be with you all soon.

Guma (Judy Tretheway) has been teaching Qigong since 1996 and active in the Wisdom Healing Qigong community since 2007. She has been instrumental in writing Master Mingtong Gu's books, creating the online program and guiding the international Professional Training Program.

As a volunteer she has taught weekly Qigong classes inside Folsom prisons for 8 years. She has taught in hospital, church and community settings and is experienced in conducting retreats, speaking at National conferences and mentoring students one-on-one. We benefit from her background as both a Community Newspaper Publisher and a Hospice Chaplain.

As a former Hospice Chaplain, her presence and listening skills have brought comfort to hundreds of local families.  It was her QiGong practice that gave her strength and sensitivity to be skillfully present to diverse family issues, disease processes and religious beliefs of patients, families and caregivers.

For 5 yearsshe taught through Kaiser Permanente offering 3 classes weekly and presenting at Mind Body and Pain Management Classes.  She has taught in medical, fitness, senior and recreational situations. She has conducted retreats, spoken at National conferences and coached privately. As a volunteer she has taught weekly classes inside Old Folsom prison for 8 years.
